Free keepsakes are always a crowd pleaser. I assisted in the creative of a custom chain-stitched trucker hat giveaway to life, offering fans the opportunity to personalize their own hats with either their name or a phrase of their choice. The intent was to create a wearable takeaway that felt authentic to the country festival environment while allowing for individual expression.
Design considerations focused on ensuring legibility and visual impact at a small scale, accounting for stitch style, spacing, and letterform clarity so each custom phrase translated cleanly onto the hat. The result was an accessory that felt both handcrafted and intentional, blending western-inspired flair with modern customization. This was done with the help of mockups to test camp print styles, bold strokes to enhance legibility and playing around with appropriate placements on the hat.
The chain-stitched hats quickly became a fan-favorite, serving as both a functional keepsake and a statement piece that extended the Watershed experience beyond the festival grounds.
